Board of Trustees Meeting
February 22, 2005
The meeting was called to order at: 7:03pm by President, Rick Heinz.
Board members present: Rick Heinz, Rod Moore, Shawn Hutchinson, and John Wruble.
Also present: Joy Church.
The January minutes were read and approved with a few minor corrections.
King County Sheriff’s Department: Officer Sam Shirley stated there have been some vehicle thefts and car prowls in the greater Fairwood Area. Business windows have also been broken in the Fairwood Shopping area near Safeway.
Fire District #40 Report: Given by Battalion Chief Jerry Johnson. Chief Johnson stressed the importance of keeping your address numbers visible on your house. (Curb numbers are not preferred.) This speeds response time by EMS services. The CERT program will be held again March 22, 2005. It is an 8 week program preparing citizens to respond to disasters and emergencies. Information can be found at: http://www.fd40.com/ There were 140 EMS/Rescue call in January and 14 fire calls for FD 40.
Financial Report, Joy Church: Expenses for January were almost identical to last January’s expenses. The county has paid in advance for the use of the Tract N property for the continuing stream improvements.
Landscaping Report, Rick Heinz for Rob Wick: Rick said that they are looking at 3 to 4 landscaping companies, as our contract with our current vendor will expire. Please make sure to consult the Homeowner’s Board before trimming any trees in the community greenbelt. This property belongs to all homeowners.
Architectural Control Report, John Wruble: John has been crafting a letter to address an infraction by a homeowner with a noncompliant structure.
Social Committee/Community Relations, Rod Moore: BBQ and cleanup is looking to be held in April. The Neighborhood Garage Sale will be in May.
Blockwatch, Rick Heinz: One vehicle was broken into in the Woodward while parked in the owner’s driveway. If you have to park you vehicle in your driveway make sure to lock your doors and remove all valuables.
Tract N: Tract N rezoning paperwork has been submitted to the county. This will classify the area as open space and substantially reduce the taxes on it.
Annexation/Incorporation: John said that Fairwood Task Force filed a notice of intent for incorporation. The Task Force is now waiting for the financial study to come back from the county to determine the viability of an independent Fairwood. Liens: The subject was tabled to our next meeting.
It was agreed to invest our reserve fund in some certificates of deposit to gain a better rate of return.
Rod will be purchasing a new net for the Sport Court.
